GRADUATE ENTRY DNP FAQ
When and how do I register for classes?
The Graduate Entry DNP students take courses taught just for them. So there is no chance you would be closed out of a course. See the step-by-step guide to registration for detailed information on how to register for your Fall courses.
What is the schedule for 2009 Orientation?
Attendance at both orientation sessions is required. Make plans now to attend.
- Thursday, August 20: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Friday, August 21: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
You will receive detailed information about orientation in mid-August.
What do I need to do to be prepared to start clinical practice?
Clinical experiences will begin the week of August 31. Read and take action to meet the health and safety requirements. You cannot begin clinical experiences unless documentation of meeting these requirements has been provided to, Anne Watson, the Graduate Entry DNP Program Assistant and the University Health Service (for health information). Order your uniforms well in advance. See separate section of this website for details.
What shoes are appropriate to wear for clinical practice?
Any white closed-toe shoe is fine. White athletic shoes may be worn but should be reserved solely for clinical practice. White clogs are also acceptable as long as they enclose the full foot.
You can order shoes from Robert’s Medical Uniform online site. This is the only uniform item that you need to order directly online. Visit www.robertsmed.com to place your shoe order.
When will I learn of my actual clinical assignment?
Hospital-based clinical experiences: In semester I, all students are assigned to faculty supervised clinical practice groups. Students attend one 8 hour day per week (Mon or Wed).Once the units for Fall are confirmed, students will have an opportunity to submit their choices (see separate section on registration). Assignments to specific units will be distributed at orientation.
Community-based clinical experiences: All students will also participate in a total of 28 hours of clinical experiences in the community. More information will be provided in the NUND 401 syllabus and blackboard site. Students must travel to a site that is in the City of Cleveland but not in the University Circle area. Students generally travel by car (individual or car pools). However, it is possible to travel to the site by bus.
How do I know which textbooks to buy?
Faculty will list required and recommended textbooks and other materials in the syllabus for their course. This information will be posted on the Blackboard Site for the course.
Once you register for a course, and have activated your CWRU network ID (see registration section of the New Student website), you will be able to access the Blackboard site for the course. The course faculty will activate the site when they have it ready so you can retrieve the syllabus and other information.
