Your Fall 2009 semester curriculum includes classes, a seminar, labs for two courses, and two types of clinicals (hospital and community based). This may be a more complex schedule than you have had in past educational experiences.

We hope these step-by-step instructions help. But you are not alone! We are here to help you sort through the complexity of our schedule! Contact your advisor (see your letter), the FPB Registrar, or Dr. Lindell for questions or assistance.

Mandatory orientation: August 20 and 21. Classes begin August 24.

1. Apply for Financial Aid no later than July 1.

2. Submit your letter of acceptance.
Send your letter accepting the offer of admission, other required forms and deposit to Ms. Donna Hassik in the FPB Student Services Office by July 1, 2009.

3. Check your regular mail.
You will then receive a letter in the regular mail from the Registrar’s office with detailed information on how to activate your network ID & CWRU email and begin the registration process.

4. Contact your advisor.

  • Academic advising is a key part of each student’s educational experience at CWRU and the FPB School of Nursing.
  • Meet with your advisor each semester before registration to discuss your progress in the program, your curriculum plan and nursing practice, and other related topics. In person meetings are preferred.
  • In person meetings are preferred; however, in some cases advising may be done by phone or email.
  • Your advisor’s name is in your letter of admission or you can contact Anne Watson (anne.watson@case.edu).
  • NOTE: Advisors may not be on campus during the summer and may not answer your call or email. If that should occur, contact Dr. Lindell.
  • Once you have completed advising, your advisor will release the advising hold on your registration in the Student Information (SIS) System.

5. What courses do I take each semester?
See the Pre-Licensure Graduate Entry DNP Plan of Study.

6. What is the schedule for Fall semester?
Check the daily schedule (including labs and clinical experiences) of these guidelines. The courses you must register for are the following:

  • NUND 401 - Introduction to the Discipline and Practice of Nursing
  • NUND 402 - Introduction to Pharmacology
  • NUND 403A - Introduction to Nursing Informatics
  • NUND 404A - Inquiry A for the Graduate Entry DNP
  • NUND 410 - Health Assessment

You should also check the CWRU Searchable Schedule at or access the schedule of classes in the Student Information System from the main Student Center page. Click on the “Search for Classes” green button in the top right corner.
NOTE: Some of the courses are listed multiple times. This is due to their atypical schedule. Register for each course one time!!

7. Student Information System (SIS)
The SIS is your portal to:

  • The Searchable Schedule of classes
  • Registration
  • Your transcript
  • Your personal information (make sure it is correct and use this site to update as needed)
  • Courses for which you are registered

8. Register for your courses:

  • Use the Student Information System (SIS).
  • Follow the instructions on the letter from the Registrar and the SIS System.
  • NOTE: The SIS system may say it cannot register you for all of your courses. This is due to the complexity of our schedule and pre/co reqs. Contact the FPB Registrar for assistance.
  • Having difficulty registering from off campus? Contact the FPB Registrar or visit the office to use their computers to register.

9. Information on Seminar, Labs and Clinical Experiences

Detailed information is found below.

10. Credit Transfer
If you have already taken a course that may be equivalent to one in the pre-licensure curriculum and attained a grade of B or higher, you may apply for credit transfer. See the policy/procedure on the Credit Transfer request form posted under “Forms” on the FPB Registrar’s website.

  • Submit requests for credit transfer to Anne Watson, Graduate Entry DNP Program Assistant. You will be notified by email of the decision. The process may take several weeks.
  • Courses for which credit transfer is most often requested:
    • Semester I – pharmacology, bioethics
    • Semester 2 – altered human functioning (pathophysiology), genetics
  • Other courses to take if you receive credit transfer – contact Dr Lindell

11. After Registering

  • Once you have your Student ID number (see letter from Registrar), you can sign up for Parking:
(online or at Access Services, ground floor in Crawford Hall)
  • Once you are registered for at least one course, you can get Your ID Card:
Go to Case Access Services, Crawford Hall, ground floor. Bring with you one form of government issued photo identification (e.g. a driver's license, state ID, passport, etc.) and copy of your class schedule (print off from your SIS site) to Access Services.
