A typical day starts at 4:45am, before the sun even rises. After a nice hot shower, I'm out the door and on my way by 5:45. First stop of the day-coffee! Coffee-the elixir of life, what most college students live off of-starts each and every day for me.
Coffee in hand, I head off to clinicals. Luckily, it's still early enough to beat rush hour traffic. By the time I park my car and get up to my unit, it's about 6:45-just enough time to relax and enjoy the rest of my coffee. From there, the day is spent taking vital signs, giving baths, performing assessments, passing meds, and helping wherever else I may be needed. At 2:00pm, it's time to call it quits and go until post-conference, where our group unwinds and discusses the events of the day.
Following clinicals, I have a little break until my Sociology class at 4:00. That lasts for about an hour, during which we have lecture, or watch a movie (we watch a lot of movies in this class). At 5:00, I make my way back to my car and head home, battling traffic the entire way. Once at home, I feed my dogs, change my clothes, and leave again, this time to go to work. From 7:00-11:00pm, I work at one of my two jobs, trying to get homework done in between customers (although that doesn't always happen!).
Finally, the day can come to a close at 11:30pm when I get home. I end my day the same way it starts-with a cup of coffee (this time a small one ?). I usually get to sleep around 12:30am, only to start another day in a few short hours.
